Privacy policy

WanderAtlas is a travel guide site that can be read without creating an account. We don’t ask for your name, address, or ID number to access content, and we don’t sell reader data to anyone.

The only data we actually collect is limited to technical logs from our hosting provider, cookies from third-party ad services, and the content of messages you send us via email or chat. The sections below explain each in detail.

This site is hosted on Vercel. Like most hosting services, Vercel records standard request logs: IP address, browser user agent, requested page path, status code, and request time. These logs are used for security, diagnosing errors, and tracking quota usage.

We do not combine these logs with other data to create reader profiles, and their retention follows the hosting provider’s storage policy, not ours. We have no mechanism to link an IP address to an individual’s identity.

WanderAtlas displays ads via Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads, measure ad performance, and tailor ads based on your past visits to this site or others in Google’s network.

These advertising cookies are set by Google, not by us, and we do not have access to their contents. Google’s use of DART cookies and similar technologies is governed by Google’s own privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

You can manage or disable ad personalization via Google’s ad settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads, or opt out of interest-based ads from many networks at once via https://www.aboutads.info. Modern browsers also let you block third-party cookies entirely, and this site remains readable under those conditions.

This site provides a Q&A assistant named Atlas. By default, Atlas answers from the site’s existing knowledge base without sending conversation content to external language models.

If we enable integration with an external language model provider, the messages you send will be forwarded to that provider for processing. Therefore, never enter sensitive data in the chat box: passport numbers, national ID numbers, payment card details, full home addresses, or other confidential information.

We do not use chat content to create reader profiles, nor do we link it to anyone’s identity.

If you email our editorial address, we retain the message only as long as needed to respond and, where relevant, to follow up on factual corrections for the guides you report.

We do not add email addresses to marketing lists, share them with third parties, or use them to send promotions. You may request deletion of your message from our inbox at any time.

Our guides include links to official embassy sites, transport operators, museums, and other service providers so you can verify the latest information. Once you click such a link, the destination site’s privacy policy applies, not this one.

Destination photos are served via third-party image providers, so your browser makes requests to those providers’ domains when loading a page. We do not send any additional information about you in those requests.

This site is intended for adult readers planning travel and is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data via email or chat, contact us so we can delete it.

You have the right to ask what data we hold about you, request corrections, and request deletion insofar as the data is under our control. Note that hosting logs and Google ad cookies are controlled by their respective providers, so requests related to these must be directed to them.
